Updates? Ya’ll don’t need no stinkin updates…
Beeline is doing this promotion right now and everything is free. It is partly because they screwed up and no one could use the phone or internet for a couple of days. So here I am updating my blog from my beeline modem.
Schools out till Feb 6th, due to a bunch of students and teachers being sick. I just think people want a break.. because I can’t imagine there are enough people missing in a school of 1400 students and 90 teachers to make a break worth it.
So until school starts up I’m doing tutoring for my two Olympiad students. Both have a pretty good grasp of English. They understand me well enough. I really just have to focus on their interviewing skills. Nurjaget froze up a bit during the Bakai-ata regional and it almost cost him the Gold. Samara is quiet but she can hold a fluid conversation, so I’m just trying to get her to talk more.
My close friends are coming to visit my site this coming weekend. I think Ian, Steve, and Johnny are coming for sure. Megan and Emily might tag along. These guys really help to make this experience worth it for me.
One of my counterparts and I are going to try and create an HIV/AIDS testing center in the local regional hospital in Bakai-Ata. As it stands now they can only draw blood, send it to Talas, and then Talas sends it on to Bishkek for testing. We’ll also hold HIV/AIDS awareness trainings as well as give out information and condoms. Hopefully it works out better than my last project haha.
See ya’ll in 5 months!
